About Our Destination
Located in the heart of New York’s Finger Lakes Region, Cayuga County is a treasure trove of opportunity. Here, we pride ourselves on truly having something for everyone—whether you’re a history buff or an outdoor adventurer, a zen-seeker or a foodie. The life and vitality of our county is undeniable, and its convenient location makes us an easy getaway for travelers wishing to explore the diverse landscapes and attractions that New York State has to offer.
Auburn, NY—the hub of city life in Cayuga County—was once a hotspot of activity in the abolitionist, suffrage, and civil rights movements. Given this, notable figures like Harriet Tubman, William H. Seward, and Emily Howland once called our county home as they lived out their legacies. All it takes is a short walk down historic South St. to see how much history is housed here.
Outside the city, visitors and residents alike can enjoy a breath of fresh air as they take in the natural beauty of the Finger Lakes. Scenic driving routes, wooded areas, cascading waterfalls, and lakeside views only scratch the surface of our county’s gorgeous landscape. We’re beautiful and accessible all year long—whether you’re looking to hike, camp, fish, and more.
To top it all off, Cayuga County has a bustling food and beverage scene. Surrounded by Finger Lakes wine country, Cayuga County alone has more than ten wineries dotted along the lakeside. And for those looking for other beverages, we have several craft breweries and cideries as well. Farm-to-table restaurants abound, offering ample opportunities to indulge in the fruits of the land’s labor.

Here’s what some of our visiting writers have had to say about their experiences in Cayuga County:
“Visiting Auburn, NY was so important for tracing my African American roots in this country. Being able to tour a town with strong abolitionist ties that hold such important parts of our freedom-fighting legacy was a life-changing experience. I want more people, especially those who look like me, to visit Auburn and experience the golden history that’s still visible in the town’s foundation.”
Jeroslyn Johnson
“The food in Auburn was some of the best I’ve tasted. Being in the city, it’s easy to forget how precious fresh, locally-sourced produce is. Auburn serves as a reminder of the importance of quality in dining. While learning more about Harriet Tubman’s history in the town, stopping at local restaurants with delicious food and a family feel served as a nod to why she chose Auburn as her home.”

“The experience exceeded all expectations. Every nuance from your planning process to execution was exceptional. Your entire team paid great attention to detail, made prompt adjustments when necessary, and were warm and welcoming.”
Sister Moutique Ayodele-El
“I want to extend the most enormous ‘thank you’ for coordinating this trip. I don’t think you are aware of the eye-opening experience you provided me, not only into Harriet’s story but also into my own roots, and what I can do to continue to tell these stories that are being erased.”
